Time Shot

This project aimed to create a ping-pong table that could track the time between the ball’s impact with the paddle and the table.  Ideally each player will be able to see the LED light up which gauges the level of the shot based on the time difference. The lighting will simulate the play of the game. Our end result was a miniature ping-pong board with red, green, and yellow LEDs that lit up based on the speed of the shot and simulated the speed of the game.

The original objective of the project was to successfully track the time between two piezoelectric inputs. We were able to expand this into a system that takes the time between one of the paddle inputs and the table input. When the time is tracked, the system outputs to different LEDs to signal different ranges of that time. Red indicates a short amount of time, yellow a long amount of time, and green a longer amount of time.
